Mould Design

We believe that quality begins with mould design capability and consider it to be the key to mould making. At SWY MOULD, we have invested in both people and technology to ensure that our design meets your highest expectations. A good design is the heart of a mold, therefore, we especially focus on the mould structure: cooling, venting, and moving mechanism are the preconditions to achieve the high-quality molds and short molding cycle time. All moulds are carefully designed, from the parts analysis to the molds general assembly and assessment of part processing, we organize project engineers, designers, mold makers, and technical directors to participate in the project evaluation conferences more than three times for each mould. With the above efforts, we do our best to maximize mould life and minimize maintenance work.
We are in accordance with the international standards, such as DME, HASCO, Progressive, DAIDO, or customers’ specific standards, to ensure each designed mold be able to be well-run in the designated country. Matching customers’ file formats, we provide DXF, DWG, PRT, IGES, STEP, X-T, and other file formats to customers.

DFM(Design For Manufacturability)

DFM is an acronym for “Design For Manufacturability”, which means we extensively study the 3D/CAD files you provide and make sure your design can be built as you intended. Then we will provide you a report for each part that summarizes the part information (size, weight, material, finish, color, etc.) and addresses any concerns regarding mould making or part design. Not only that, but the DFM we provide also includes our recommendations on how to resolve any issues best to help you revise the design if necessary. In every manufacturing process, it is essential to ensure that every stage is foolproof and executed appropriately. From material selection all the way to actual manufacturing, it is essential to find a balance between cost and quality. In the injection molding process, the injection molding design for manufacturability(DFM) is the process that ensures all the above is adhered to.
Injection molding design for manufacturability basically has to do with the improvement and enhancement of your part design. It ensures that your part is economically fit for production, easy to produce, and fulfills its functional duties. However, DFM doesn’t only deal with the injection molding design. It also covers selecting the suitable materials, the injection molding mould design, evaluating product lead time, quality, hazard associated with use, and so on.

Mold-flow Analysis

With the need to streamline the design, development, and manufacturing of a plastic injection mold, Mold-flow simulation is an extremely valuable tool. By using the Mold-flows line of plastic products, our SWY MOULD team can predict how part geometry or multiple parts within the same tool will affect the injection condition, supply the hot runner manufacturer with bore sizes, balance the runner-based on tooling conditions and troubleshoot an existing plastic mold. This simulation software allows to design and optimizes plastic injection mold through the creation of gate and runner systems, and to predict the flow of materials, filling and packing pressure, cycle time, shot size, and clamp tonnage.

We know how to choose the best configuration such as runner, gate position, and cooling system in order to optimize the mold structure and enhance production efficiency. The lead times on the design and manufacturing of tooling have been dramatically decreased, and the need to take first sample parts immediately into production is inevitable. Having the same team develop the mold design and the mold flow analysis will solve the problem of last time in the attempt to complete a mold flow analysis using practical manufacturing constraints, therefore, bring the project to manufacturing more efficiently and in a timely manner.


The main content of Mold-flow Analysis:
1. Fill analysis
Balanced fill, Gate location, Number of gates required, Gate/runner sizes, Location of weld lines, Shear rate / Shear stress, Valve gate timing (if required), Fill pressure, Melt front temperature, Processing conditions
2. Pack analysis
Clamp tonnage, Packing profile, Density, Volumetric shrinkage
3. Cool analysis
Cooling time, Coolant temperature, Verify cooling lines achieve acceptable part cooling, Cycle time
4. Warp analysis
The amount of displacement in the X, Y, and Z directions, Part shrinkage

3D Printing Rapid-Prototyping Service

As a function of product design and development, we offer 3D printing services to provide clients with a rapid prototyping option all under a single supplier. This is ideal for prototypes, samples, and small production runs since they are produced with production-grade thermoplastics; painting, gluing, sanding, drilling, and bonding with other 3D printed parts can be completed just like any plastic component.
It's commonly used in some self-developed products, before mass production, our customers need to have some samples to check the assembly and function, so it's necessary to get a 3D printing rapid-prototyping sample first. SWY MOULD will design the plastic part and make a 3D printing rapid-prototyping sample and send you by delivery, after you confirmed all okay, we start making plastic injection mould.

1. Product & mould design inspection
Designs made by us or offered by customers are always analyzed in-depth by checking the moulding process feasibility, mould structure and movement feasibility of all the related plastic components etc. This helps to avoid mould modifications in the later stages and other unnecessary mould repair work which may be caused by a product design fault. We believe that if we spend more time during the product & mould designing stage we can fasten the mould making time.
2. Mould steel inspection
Plastic injection mould steels are bought from standard sellers and selected according to specific conditions and customer requirements.
Suggestions SWY MOULD provides:
*If your mould needed production quantity is high, suggested using H13 (common mould cavity/core, heat treatment HRC43-52), S136 (anti-corrosion and high mirror finish, heat treatment HRC43-52), 718S (high mirror finish, heat treatment HRC43-52), NAK80 (high mirror finish, pre-hardening HRC38-42), NAK55 (high mirror finish, heat treatment HRC43-52), 2316 (anti-corrosion and high mirror finish, heat treatment HRC43-52), 2738H (high mirror finish, pre-hardening HRC30-33), SKD61 (used for precision moulds, heat treatment HRC45-58)
*If mould needed production quantity is not so high, suggested using 2311/P20H (common mould cavity/core, pre-hardening HRC28-33), 718H (with good polishing, pre-hardening HRC33-38)
3. Mould standard spare parts inspection
All spare parts, SWY MOULD buys from the regular brand. As for spare parts, we will protect all the drawings if customers need, and offer a number of spare parts on the quotation itself. For standard spare parts, you can ask us to help you buy and send them to you and common spare parts also can purchase from your market.
4. Machining process inspection
Every week SWY MOULD will provide a weekly report with pictures or videos so that customers can know the rate of progress clearly. All sizes and machining situations will be checked by our project manager through every machining phase if there is any fault that can be corrected soon. Utilizing the top facilities to process the mould to reach high precision and high quality.
5. Mould trial inspection
Our mould trials are conducted under the supervision of experienced technical personnel who strive to adjust the moulding machine parameters and produce qualified samples. We also encourage our customers to visit the trials for their satisfaction.
